Community Based Services
The department has the mandate of facilitating the Gender and Community
Based Services to provide, mobilize; educate/train citizens in social and
economic improvement, cultural advancement and access to community
Development Programmes, Probation and Social Welfare Services and Labour
Services, Labour and Library Services.
The premise of the department is community Mobilization for mind-set change
for development. Mind-set change brings with its great benefits, including
public appreciation of the country‟s development agenda and increased
awareness for ownership and social accountability. CBS helps to enhance the
well-being of the people or groups by changing their attitudes, norms, practices
and behaviours. In addition, CBS helps build capacities of communities to
assess their needs, identify options for addressing them, prioritize, leverage
resources, and create sustainable solutions.
- Implementation of Special interest groups work plans.
- Conducted mobilization and awareness on government development initiatives i.e. Emyooga, UWEP, DDEG etc.
- Adult learning through FAL
